We were contacted for this project because the homeowner was experiencing high energy bills and uncomfortable temperatures in their home. When we inspected the attic, we saw that there was only about four inches of old insulation in the attic. They decided they wanted to add more insulation so bring their home up to energy efficiency standards.

We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. We also sealed holes and gaps in the attic to prevent air leakage between the attic and the living spaces of the home.

The homeowner will now enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs and a more comfortable home for years to come!

We left no room for compromise in this project. To ensure unobstructed airflow and superior insulation performance, we installed baffles over the soffit vents. Simultaneously, we upgraded the insulation to a remarkable R-38, with a generous 14-inch thickness. The homeowner called Tyson Energy Solutions because his home in Oakhurst was frigid in the winter and very warm in the summer. Our specialist visited the home and found that the attic only had about four inches of insulation. The homeowner contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because his 1600 sq. ft. home was uncomfortably hot in the summer and frigid in the winter. Additionally, the homeowner's young children were suffering from bad allergies year-round. Upon inspection of the attic, we discovered that not only was the insulation in the attic old and dirty, but six ducts for the HVAC system had eroded and were leaking air into the living spaces of the home from the attic.

We began the attic restoration by extracting and disposing of the old insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using Nisus DSV sanitizer. This is a concentrated disinfectant, cleaner, mildewstat, fungicide, and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Next, we pinpointed all areas where air leakage could occur and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers. By sealing the attic, we prevented air from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. Additionally, we installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.

Lastly, we blew in new, premium Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. 

This homeowner and his family will now experience healthier indoor air, reduced heating and cooling costs, and a more comfortable temperature in their home year-round for the life of their house.
